Mendon has recently acquired the deed to the old shop on Hartford Avenue East. (Corner of Hartford Avenue E, and Warfield Road) The Historical Commission is investigating how to preserve and restore the shop. It's commonly referred to as "The Cobbler's Shop". We are researching its history. At this point, there is no evidence that it was ever used as a cobbler shop.
- February 2010: Chenot Associates, Inc. has documented the initial state of the shop.
- September 2010: The windows and the roof have been restored. Here are a couple of photos.
- The windows were removed are restored offsite.
- The refurbished windows and roof ensure that the shop is now weather-tight.
